Into the Bottle

Bottle

Three steps to the motel, three to the ravine;
Three steps to the bottle, that could be mine.

Three men are wiser, but we were nine;
We drank, danced, drenched till we were fine.

***

An ode to the place I’ve been living for more than seven years. Where all we have is a dingy restaurant, a dwarfish wine shop, and a shabby road passing through a ravine where landslides occur almost daily.

A Golden Leaf of Autumn

autumn leaf

I am a golden leaf of an autumn,
Wind made me fall and abandoned me broken.
When you are weak, you are first to fall,
When you are strong, you stand every storm.

Each song has a melody, every melody has a time,
I am a melody of the wind, a song so fine.

I am shade of the tree, from which I am now free,
I am mighty luck, hard-pressed in a tattered book.

A wind shall take me away, or shall I creak under the feet of men,
A child shall play with me, and make a crown for the hen.

In the next spring my clan shall grow,
On my stem shall come leaves like a rainbow.

You see my story is green, my story is golden,
Sometimes I feel, I am so much a human, so much a human.

The Free Luxuries of Life

Mountain

Life’s luxury is to wake up in the morning, open the curtains, and witness the mountains turning white with the snow.
Life’s luxury is to be woken up by the chirping of BulBuls, Koels, and the Crows.
Life’s luxury is to open the window and feel a gush of fresh, cold air on your face.
Life’s luxury is to have a tall Poplar tree in the open space.
Life’s luxury is to have a stream of fresh, sweet mountain water near your house.
Life’s luxury is to have a garden, where you could grow lilies, cucumbers & the herbs.
Life’s luxury is to witness the sunrise by one window, and the sunset by the other.
Life’s luxury is to witness the Yellow, Pink, Red and Orange colours of the late hour.
Life’s luxury is to watch the shooting stars, the shape of the moon, and count the constellations in the sky.
Life’s luxury is to sleep in your cozy warm blanket, with a hope that tomorrow will be a blessing again.
